Legally separated for 2 years. Do you still need to wait another 6 months once you move to the "divorce" part of the process?

From my understanding, getting legally separated does nothing to shorten the required 6 month waiting period for a divorce in Cali. Legal separation is just another form of "breaking up" however you are still legally married. You will need to go through normal divorce process which unfortunately includes waiting 6 months for it to be legal.
